Intergenerational Learning
Educating our children and sharing the experiences of our elders are critical to the economic development of our community. This Tuesday@REI will focus on innovations in public education, particularly those involving elders from our community. Cathy Whitehouse will talk about The Intergenerational School - the only such school in the world and the only charter school that achieved an excellent rating based on state evaluations. Peter Whitehouse will discuss the concept of "Successful Aging" as being promoted by the Cleveland Foundation and others. Other speakers will describe programs active in the Cleveland Municipal School System. Sharing stories in celebration of learning will be a pedagogical theme of our session and the mechanism that we will use to tap the wisdom of the audience - young and old.
