RAMTEC
" Bringing It Home "
RAMTEC will be a Technical College designed specifically for the manufacturing industry by manufacturers. The Education Mission is threefold:
- Providing the manufacturing industry with skilled workers, particularly in the areas of automation and robotics.
- Teaching small to mid-sized manufacturers how to utilize state-of-the-art automation and robotics enabling them to be competitive leaders in the global economy.
- Demonstrate to the younger generation that robotics and the manufacturing profession is cool, green, high-tech and rewarding.
RAMTEC will utilize a new approach to technical education. The college will be a teaching factory. In a hands-on production environment, master technicians will train workers, support personnel, and manufacturing managers. In addition, the center will partner with colleges and industry in the research and development of automation and robotic technology and applications.
RAMTEC aims to redefine manufacturing as a high-tech, challenging profession. Yesterday's factory jobs are evolving into cool, well paying careers. The center will reflect this image in the design and construction of its building. The project will utilize green building techniques in an ultra-modern styled glass structure that will include a cafeteria and daycare, as well as classrooms, labs and production facility.
Sustainability will be an integral element in the center's operations, facility design, building construction, and energy efficiency. The ability to self-fund the ongoing operations will be a driving concept in RAMTEC’s financial planning as well as a model for replication and expansion. Replication of the RAMTEC concept is viable in other cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago. Funding for RAMTEC will be based on a collective or cooperative model.
In addition to teaching automation by running production of real parts, RAMTEC will operate as a One-Stop-Shop for manufacturers by:
- Acting as a source for automation equipment and tooling.
- Offering technical support services.
- Providing manufacturing workers with current, marketable skills in applied automation and robotics.
- Consulting with component manufacturers to assist in design and production of automation related products and services.
As we work to bring RAMTEC from concept to reality we are inviting government, education, and private industry to participate in our efforts.
